I lead when I know exactly where to go, but slow down and let my Master lead when I am uncertain

Cody has different positions for running, depending on the environment. He sometimes runs in front of the master, pulling him and assisting him in the run. He sometimes runs beside him and at times behind him.
Cody runs beside or behind the Master when they run in new places. He prefers the Master to direct him as he follows.
Cody runs in front of the Master when he knows exactly where to go. They are routes they have run before or straight paths where he generally knows the Master to run straight on the paved road.
When they reach a crossroad where they can go either straight, left, or right, Cody falls back and goes behind the Master. He is uncertain which way the Master wants to go and lets Him decide. Once the decision is made, then when the road is straight again, he retakes the lead.
Similarly, our Master gives us a general direction, and He wants us to go all out after the paths He has set for us. Yet, as we run along, we may find ourselves in the crossroads. The right decision is to slow down and ask the Master to guide us. When we do, He will choose the best for us then allow us to continue again.
I also find that as Cody runs in the front, that he pulls the Master to run faster. I know the Master doesn’t need to run faster, but He tends to join him. I think that has to do with the Father’s heart. Our Master does not have to, but He delights in whatever benefits us and runs with us.
Psalms 37:23-24
The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the LORD holds them by the hand.
Isaiah 58:11
The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.
